Practical checks

  • Salt and humidity: ask about roof, metal and electrical maintenance near the coast.
  • Water: municipal supply, community association or well? Ask about the dry season.
  • Electricity and internet: confirm the provider at the exact address.
  • Access: note unpaved roads and rainy-season conditions.
  • Security: ask about the neighborhood and the property’s security setup.
  • Management: if it will sit empty, plan who looks after it.

Second homes

If you plan to rent the home when you are away, check municipal rules and, if in a condominium, the community’s short-term rental policy before you buy.
